Herschel V Jenkins High School
Class Of 1969

Welcome to the Herschel V Jenkins High Class Of 1969 web site.

It’s been WAY too long since I sent anything out to you guys…in fact, my last letter was in 2021…we were in the grips of COVID and no one really knew what was going to happen next. We were staying home more than going out – we had friends over as long as we were comfortable that they were doing their best to stay well. We wore masks, socially distanced and a good number of us were vaccinated, including some boosters, hoping for a good outcome to this “thing” that changed our lives forever.

Welcome to 2023 – things are really starting to finally happen again – we’re going to concerts and football games (HOW ABOUT THOSE DAWGS!!!) – sitting next to strangers in public restaurants – and working to realize what our ‘new normal’ is all about. I hope those of us who have had our own businesses are still here, working as hard as ever to keep the doors open and the bills and our employees paid.

Speaking of “NEXT” – there has been some chatter about a smaller, more of a neighborhood get-together type of celebration for our 55th anniversary of graduating from JHS in 1969. I was able to keep some seed money in our checking account after the 50th reunion, so we can definitely do something that will impact your wallets in a minimal way (maybe $30 or as much as $40 per person depending on what we decide to do) just to cover the expenses. Maybe a night under the stars at the pavilion at Red Gate Farms with either a small band or a DJ for background music? You KNOW I’m going to want entertainment. How about something as simple as a banquet room at a restaurant (with a bar – we DO like our libations!) where we can all order off a menu (if we have enough people, we can get choices like we did for the reunion to keep it simple) and we could just socialize and hang out?

Feel free to email me at with your suggestions rather than posting them here – they’ll get to me quicker and I’ll report what y’all have to say.

I’m glad that we’re all still here and (I hate to ask for this but I don't always get the news.) I would like to know if any of you know of any classmates who have passed away since our last update probably 2019 before the 50th. Please email those to me as well.

One reminder: We have managed to keep politics off this site (something that I’m committed to, so don’t even try – I’ll delete you…promise) as this is a safe space where we can keep up with each other's lives and stay in contact.

I asked on the last letter that I was praying that we can come through the pandemic with our loves, our health and our happiness intact…and looking for the time when we can hug each other again. That time has come.

Blessings to you all.

Paul Mazo
